Medicine, specially the pediatric rotation is quite humbling…when you find out that for the small amount of help you can give a child, there is a lot you can not do….there are more than enough of childhood illnesses that you can’t touch…you can’t cure…then you become humble and quite small…..never ever your hopelessness envelopes you like here…

 The only mistake these children made…was being played by genes…by environment…the cruelty of the world….nothing smells fair and just around here….

 You watch the fathers and the mothers and the grandparents and the aunts and … who with their naive believes watch their children…yet you know better..the child is gone…and there are those who believe in miracles…no I don’t think saving a child is a miracle…it takes many many more children to be saved so that I can believe in miracles…

the worst is when there is something to be done…but that something is simply denied because of money!….and this way life has little value..specially life of a child…and a child dies waiting for a surgical payment….medical bill payment… life payment…..

The pediatrics ward, hum, it’s a curious place…no it’s a sad place…it is where you see the little kids struggling for life, purely for life, they have no other reason to fight than for life itself, they fight to exist, they don’t seek love, vengence, glory, they need to survive, but sometimes they simply don’t,

some give up, some fight up to the end, however path they chose, some end up…well to put it simply…Dead…

and it is sad…seeing how innocent they are, seeing how hopeless they are, and most of all…..how clueless they are….

As their doctor, their caregiver, you feel they have a world of pain, feelings and thoughts to share with you, but they can’t pass the message through, or you can’t understand their message…You try to feel them through the signs, Fever, Tachypnea, … .

You try to help them, cure them, heal them……………..But sometimes you simply can’t…it’s out of your hands, and you feel so powerless…so ashamed…
